pikefold primary school, manchester

The new school replaced the existing facilities with a purpose- built 420 place primary and 52 place nursery. It now has the ability to offer a flexible education facility capable of delivering a balanced curriculum, incorporating the full use of new technologies, including personalised learning.

The completed new build development aims to respond to the challenging brief whist positively embracing the unique constraints of the site. The layout of the building was evolved through consultation with both the school and MCC.

In turn, the form of the building responds to the physical properties of the site and also the civic requirements of the brief, with a 3 storey presence which complements the functional divisions of the educational stages. The proposed new facility complies with Manchester city council’s aspirations for accessible and sustainable buildings, and the latest developments in school design.
