cravenwood primary school, manchester

Cravenwood Community Primary School was an existing single storey 1.5 Form Entry (FE) Barrier Free’ school and has a significant proportion of pupils with physical disabilities. The school also incorporates a Foundation Unit.

The principles and objectives of the project were to; increase the capacity of the school from a 1.5 FE to a 2.0 FE school, maintain and encourage the regular interaction of parents and teachers, maintain the ‘Barrier Free’ status of the school, announce the school at the main entrance and site perimeter, refurbish and remodel the catering kitchen and dining room and return to the school for use prior to the completion of the new build unit, naturally ventilate all teaching spaces in the new build element, and for the project team and the school to work together to exploit the opportunity to educate the pupils about design and construction.
